VitruMed Inc. is awarded a Phase I SBIR grant from the National Science Foundation. The grant focuses on developing an advanced radiofrequency tissue welding technology which uses a bioabsorbable polymer to reinforcement the weld. VitruMed Inc. will use the $100,000 dollar grant to focus on the synthesis and characterization of a series of low-molecular weight bioabsorbable copolymers with optimum physicochemical properties for use in tissue-weld reinforcement. The company intends to develop the technology to further enable minimally invasive surgery for treatment of lung cancer.
